Then God said,
“Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you.”
Our inspiration for starting a sustainable farm began when our son worked for a vegetable farmer, bringing home fresh local produce that was much better quality and flavor than we could get in our local grocery store. We wanted to bring that quality and fresh flavor home year-round. So began our quest to determine how we could accomplish our dream. We discovered Aquaponics and hydroponics—methods of growing produce year-round—so our community and neighbors could have fresh, local, and great-tasting produce any time.
Miller Family Farm was established in 2012 in Carney, Michigan. We use Controlled Environment Agriculture, Hydroponics and Aquaponics to bring fresh produce and fish year around to our market of groceries stores, schools and farmers markets. Our farm strives to be environmentally friendly, energy efficient and sustainable.
Our mission is to grow high-quality, healthy and delicious produce while maintaining responsible stewardship of the land. Our products are offered in accessible, family-based markets both locally and regionally. We also provide work opportunities for youth where they can cultivate responsibility, build knowledge and enjoy nature.
